Guardian Angel Publishing

What do you think of this new logo for Guardian Angel Publishing? A wonderful work of art, I'd say. It's not a surprise, since the artist who designed it, Kevin Scott Collier, is a talented children's illustrator.

As you may know, I'm having my first picture book published this summer,"A Star in the Night," by Guardian Angel Publishing. While I may be a very new member of the G.A.P. family, I already know working with G.A.P. is like working with family. The editors, other authors and illustrators are friendly and helpful. I'm proud to be a new addition to this family.

The Perfectionist in Me

I've been working on my 4th assignment at ICL (The Institute of Children's Literature) for months now. I'm taking the advanced course on writing children's books. The assignment was due before Christmas and I'm still revising it. I'll think it's ready to send off and then I'll see a sentence (or two --or three) that could be worded better. This battle goes back and forth every time I pick up the manuscript. My goal for today: Get that assignment out there! Will I reach that goal today?

Going to New York

It's official! In February I am going to New York to the annual winter SCBWI conference. I attended my first local SCBWI conference a few months ago and had the best time. I can only imagine all the things I'll learn at this one.

It's been a goal of mine to go to the New York conference since last year. My husband wasn't thrilled with the idea at first, until we turned it into a getaway for the two of us. He'll keep himself busy touring the city while I'm at the conference. Then at night, we'll go somewhere together. Everyone wins.

I'm looking forward to learning all that I can there.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Welcome, 2008! It's a new year...and with a new year comes new goals. I've been thinking back on 2007 lately and I realized that I accomplished some huge things this year. My writing is taking off. I've had many stories and articles published, began my own website and blogs, and attended my first conferences. Most of all, I've signed my first book contract with Guardian Angel Publishing for "A Star in the Night," due out this summer.

Looking back, it seems tough to beat such a great year for me. But, as always, I have some goals in mind. I'm sure the list will grow over the year. I want to get my current work in progress published - or at least under contract. Other goals I have are to keep up more with my blogs, writing and website, even out my time so that I am sure to have family time as well as work time, and attend more conferences.

What about you? What are some resolutions that you are pondering? Go ahead and leave a comment and share your goals.
